#asktheexpert I just took a tetanus injection few days ago and yesterday I got to know that I am 5 weeks pregnant. Will it do any harm? Also, if I sneeze then will it affect the fetus at this stage?

In fact, tetanus vaccines (often given as Tdap or Td, which also protect against diphtheria and sometimes pertussis) are considered safe in pregnancy and are even recommended in the second or third trimester in many countries. This helps protect newborns from whooping cough.
Since you are still in the early stages of pregnancy, there is no reason for concern. However, it’s always a good idea to mention it to your doctor so they are aware of your recent tetanus shot. They can answer any questions and ensure you’re on track with your prenatal care.
