please check for cavity in your kid's teeth.
the redness and swelling can be due to spread of infection from the cavitated teeth to the gum area.
and consult Pediatric Dentist as early as possible for treatment.

Lack or oral hygiene can b the reason for swelling. This can be due to cavity or tooth decay. Would suggest u to consult with your paediatric dentist as he will guide you better after the proper evaluation of the baby teeth
