#asktheexpert hi my baby is 2weeks old. After drinking milk he is getting hiccups within 15minutes is that normal? What causes hiccups in new born ?

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy2 years agoA. hiccups in children occur due to gas which is present in the stomach.
during the feeding process child takes air along with milk and that air goes inside the stomach which irritates leading to hiccups. x
you have to offer feeding as well as do proper burping(for atleast 20 minutes) to decrease this problem and it is a self limiting problem
during hiccups just give breastfeeding again and keep the child in uprzight position for burping which will stop the episode
