Q.

#AskTheExpert hi dr, my twin baby girls are 4 months they were late preterm babies, I feed them 5-6 times a day ibe round breast milk then another around formula milk around 120ml. they were having that before these days the intake has reduced like 100ml 80ml ... is that normal? also how long should I latch the baby on the breast they do suck for like 15 minutes and stop then I burp them out and give the other side they don't drink ... is this fine ? please advise ....

A. Basically Your babies should be peeing anywhere between six to ten times a day which means they are taking feeds properly. If not then make sure they are latching and taking feeds well or if ur milk supply is sufficient. Also there should be a gradual weight gain. Keep a check on these factors. Babies under six months take on an average around 750 ml to 900ml per day split up into seven to nine feeds based on their appetite. So if u think they are taking less then try feeding frequently.
