yes , communication is very important for child.
I advise to have talk with your child daily
in that  , you can talk for your whole day Activity and ask your child for his whole day Activity
but do not force your child.
listen your child well whenever he says something.
never raise your voice.
talk politely.
make eye contact while talking with your child
instead of criticizing, focus on your child efforts positively.

first healthy and nutritious diet plays key role in development

there are lots of guiding articles on firstcry about activities for toddlers according to the age please refer that... because in answer I cant give them all at once🙂

there are lots of toys which help for development like stacking and block toys.. also pictionary books will help...

you can teach through toys. 
preferred lots of activity toys to improve hand eye coordination and memory. 
use different colors and shapes to develop child vocabulary  . .
