A. during teething (pain can start as early as 3 months) there is itching, pain, drooling of saliva, swelling in the gums, oral finger insertion, irritability and crying during the teething process. it will come intermittently for few days to few weeks and then will go away. usually teething pain doesn't come after 2 years of age. with the help of your fingers you can press the gums of the child to decrease the pain as well as you can give a pacifier but it should be clean. you can give a cold cotton cloth to bite and press between the gums when the child is crying due to pain not resolving then you can give paracetamol whichf will also help in decreasing the pain. long-term medicine on daily basis (homeopathic /allopathic )(they are painkiller)are usually not advisable.

A. A fever in a six-month-old baby accompanied by excessive crying and restlessness can be concerning. Here are some potential causes and steps you should take: ### Potential Causes: 1. **Infection**: Fever is often a sign of an infection, such as a cold, flu, ear infection, or urinary tract infection. 2. **Teething**: While teething can cause mild fever and discomfort, it typically does not cause a high fever. 3. **Immunizations**: If your baby recently had vaccinations, a mild fever can be a common side effect. ### Steps to Take: 1. **Monitor Temperature**: Use a digital thermometer to accurately measure your baby’s temperature. Note if the fever is above 100.4°F (38°C). 2. **Hydration**: Ensure your baby is staying hydrated with breast milk, formula, or small amounts of water (if recommended by your pediatrician). 3. **Comfort Measures**: Dress your baby in lightweight clothing and keep the room at a comfortable temperature. 4. **Medication**: If the fever is high or causing discomfort, you can give infant acetaminophen or ibuprofen (never aspirin) as directed by your pediatrician. Dosage should be based on your baby's weight. ### When to Seek Immediate Medical Attention: - Fever in an infant younger than 3 months old. - Fever of 102°F (38.9°C) or higher. - Persistent crying or extreme irritability. - Difficulty breathing or rapid breathing. - Refusal to eat or drink, signs of dehydration. - Seizures or lethargy. Given the symptoms, it’s important to consult with a pediatrician as soon as possible to determine the exact cause of the fever and appropriate treatment.
