Burping helps to prevent gas problem in babies
so I would suggest to burp your baby on your shoulder in upright position after each feeding for 10 to 15 minutes.
but if a child is not feeling comfortable in this particular position ,you may try other feeding techniques like burping on chest, burping on lap etc
