Cow's milk has less iron content when compared to breast milk or iron fortified formula milk. So introducing cow's milk at this age can cause iron deficiency anemia. Iron is very much essential for baby's growth at this age. Cow's milk is too heavy for a baby's stomach. In case the breast milk production is less, use a breast pump to pump out milk between and after feedings and feed it with a bowl and a spoon. This helps in increasing the breast milk production. Breast compressions also help.
