A. Try to take a sitz bath after bowel movements. You should remain seated in your bath for atleast 10 to 20 mins. Eat high fiber diet to encourage regular bowel movements. A high fiber diet results in soft stools that are passed faster. This can help anal fissures heal faster. High fiber foods include fruits such as berries, apples, oranges, raisins, figs and pears. Broccoli, green peas, potatoes and Brussels sprouts are good vegetable options. Increasing your fluid intake can also help soften your stools. 8 glasses of water in a day. Only drink water along with meals. Regular exercise can also help reduce anal fissures as it prevents constipation. Please consult your doctor for medication and further management.
