Q.blocked nose at night

ShaistaMom of a 10 yr 8 m old boy9 mins ago
A. Babies at this age can get cold upto 7-12 times a year. Nothing to worry. You can use humidifier in the room...this will keep the air moist in the room and will not allow the mucus to harden. It will help to cure a runny nose and nasal congestion. Keep the sleeping position slightly inclined and head slightly raised.  In an elevated position basically to ease breathing. No home remedy medicines are suggested for such small babies especially giving orally. If you are using saline drops then store bought  are safer than home made as there is no risk of bacterial growth. Please continue to breastfeed well as that is the best and safest form on nutrition for your baby and build immunity. The antibodies present in the breastmilk helps tye baby's bidy to build immunity against all types of germs and aids in proper hydration. Eat healthy and breastfeed your baby well. Baby's clothing should be such to protect the chest from cold. Keep baby's and your hands clean with water or baby wipes so that the germs don't spread. Garlic and ajwain are known for its anti bacterial and anti viral properties. Dry roast 2 big cloves or garlic and ajwain on a tawa and once cooled maje it into a potli or tight pouch with a clean muslin cloth. Place it near the baby cot or cradle where the baby sleeps. The ajwainy garlicky smoke from the potli will help the baby to open the blocked nose and relieve from congestion.

Q.Hi as my baby is pooping once in 5 days and he struggles while passing so consulted doctor , he suggested bestozyme drops , 5 drops 2 times a day for one month and he gave esole satche powder to mix in milk and give before feeding for 8 days... is it correct??

ShaistaMom of a 10 yr 8 m old boy10 mins ago
A. Constipation is quite common in babies. Try doing the cycling type of exercise. Make your baby lay flat on the back and lift the legs and move them like you are pedalling a cycle.  Do this regularly 3-4 times in a day. Massage your baby's tummy clockwise and anticlockwise directions on the stomach a few times during the day. Fold your baby's  legs at the knees and press them towards the stomach a few times in the day. You eat nice fibre rich food and breastfeed your baby well.Eat lots of green leafy vegetables.   Eat pear fruit.

Q.poop is in green color?

ShaistaMom of a 10 yr 8 m old boy7 mins ago
A. if you are breastfeeding your baby then there is a possibility that your baby is getting more of foremilk .....that is the initial milk and not much of hind milk.....that is the later milk which is more fat. so for the next few times feed your baby for longer than you usually do and see if it makes any difference. feed atleast for 10-15  min on each breast. Or it could also be from the iron content in the formula milk that you are giving. Please keep and check. See if changes in the above reasons shows any difference. If not please consult your Pediatrician once as it would be better.

Apoorva MoreMom of a 2 yr 11 m old boy14 mins ago
A. Hello Mommy!!! The skin near the genitals has more melanin pigment that rest of the body parts. Thus it is normal for the skin there to get darker than rest of the body. Please do not worry. Maintain regular hygiene.

Q.what is actual difference in painless and regular vaccine?

ShaistaMom of a 10 yr 8 m old boy12 mins ago
A. painless gives less symptoms after vaccination compared to painful vaccine. however after painful there might be slight symptoms of fever and discomfort. these are manageable though. pain is there when it is pricked in both of the types. pain less is more expensive.

Q.#ParentingClinic #Food&Nutrition can we start for for 5months old baby

ShaistaMom of a 10 yr 8 m old boy13 mins ago
A. till completion of six months you should give only breastmilk or if required only formula milk can be given once in a while. after completion of six months you can give solid or semi solid food to the baby. If your baby has completed six months  then you can...start with semi solid foods. Start thinking about solids when baby can sit upright with support and is interested in the foods you’re eating. Begin with single ingredient pureed foods. Give your baby ragi or rice porridge.  Make it a bit watery in the beginning and then gradually harden. Give dal water, rice water, fruit puree, rice and carrot  finely mashed, carrot puree, apple puree, banana, mashed avocado. Give a few teaspoons of this in the beginning. Even 2-3 teaspoons in the beginning is good. Once baby tolerates single ingredient foods move on to mixed puree meals. Start with one semi solid meal at a time.  This means that you will be eliminating only one breast feed at a time as BM is still the chief source of nutrition to the baby. Pick a time that's good for both of you. If you've heated the food, stir, cool and test it on the inside of your wrist before giving it to your baby. It may take your baby a while to get used to these new flavours. Don't be surprised if he rejects the food or spits it out. Just try again later, or the next day. At first, your baby may seem to eat very little. Be patient and remember it may take time for him to learn how to eat. Restrict the use of salt and sugar. you can use just a pinch wherever required.  You can use jaggery instead of sugar. Much healthier for babies. It releases energy slower than sugar does and retains energy for longer. It even induces hunger. Give a few sips of water after every meal. Just about 2-3 teaspoons to start off with. Make sure the water is boiled and cooled. Feed once a day in the beginning. Then gradually increase the quantity and frequency.   Try different foods and see what suits your baby the best. Gradually add more flavor with herbs, spices. Do not add any initially for a few months. Graduate to chunkier purees if baby is swallowing easily. Mash food with a fork instead of a blender. Offer as many flavors as possible. Your baby's appetite will vary from one feed to the next. Watch out for cues that he's full. If he keeps his mouth shut, turns away, or starts playing with his food, he's probably had enough. Don’t worry if he hasn’t eaten much in a meal or even in a day. It is the quantity and quality of the food he eats over a whole week that is more important. Wait 3-5 days between introducing new foods, to monitor for an allergic reaction. You can even give soft idli, dosa, upma with veggies and suji halwa also.  Use jaggery instead of sugar in this. Also rice cerelac is easy to digest and there is no fear of any allergies.Better to start wirh this option if you are giving cerelac. Introduce all new foods at day time in the morning. its safer to know how the body reacts. Still continue on breast milk a few times a day as it is still the best and safest form of nutrition for your baby. Introduce only one new food at a time so that if any allergy you know what caused it. Ensure nutrients are not lost in preparation of food ....steaming is better than boiling. At 9 months plus 50% of the nutrition must be from solids and the remaining 50% from breast milk. Give cow's milk only after completion of 1 year.Cow's milk contains proteins that your baby is unable to digest in the first year. At 12 months plus baby must have 4-5 solids meals and the rest should be breast milk. Don't give honey to child less than 1 year. If your baby doesn't like a particular type of food dont force too much. Try feeding the same after a few weeks or in a different manner.
