A. japanese encephalitis is a disease which is very common in eastern and central india as well as half of eastern part of south india. this disease is slowly spreading throughout india. you have to contact your local pediatrician who will tell you whether this disease is endemic in your state or not. so if it is endemic it is advisable to go for this vaccine and if it is not endemic you can keep it as an optional vaccine it is given at 1 year age
