POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy1 Year agoA. For a 2-year-old baby like Shri Siddiqui, who has a fever following vaccination, you can use over-the-counter fever reducers such as:
1. **Paracetamol (Acetaminophen)**: This is commonly recommended for reducing fever and relieving pain in young children. It is available in various forms such as liquid, chewable tablets, and suppositories.
2. **Ibuprofen**: This is another option for fever reduction and pain relief. It is also available in liquid form and chewable tablets for children.
### Dosage and Administration
- **Paracetamol (Acetaminophen)**: The typical dose is 10-15 mg per kilogram of body weight, given every 4-6 hours as needed, but no more than 4 doses in 24 hours.
- **Ibuprofen**: The typical dose is 5-10 mg per kilogram of body weight, given every 6-8 hours as needed, but no more than 4 doses in 24 hours.
### Important Points
- **Consult the Doctor**: Always check with your pediatrician before giving any medication to ensure it is safe and appropriate for your child, especially if they have any other health conditions or are taking other medications.
- **Read Labels Carefully**: Follow the dosing instructions on the medication packaging carefully.
- **Use the Proper Measuring Device**: Use the dosing syringe or cup that comes with the medication to ensure accurate dosing.
### When to Seek Medical Attention
- If the fever persists for more than a couple of days.
- If the fever is very high (above 39°C or 102°F).
- If the child is very irritable, lethargic, or shows any signs of an allergic reaction or other concerning symptoms.
Always follow your pediatrician's advice and the medication's instructions for the safest and most effective care for your child.
