Cough along with Cold most of the time is a  viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives mhuedicine which should be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of couhgh.
if fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .

See if it is happening every morning it is going to be more sensible for you to get it checked with your doctor once the paediatrician would be able to examine the situation personally and then they can help you otherwise if it is needed I suggest you go for a blood test to know more about it in detail and then go ahead with the medication on that basis only
