As the first line of treatment you can give steam inhalationgnf which would be helpful .
Cough Syp should be given only after a proper evaltuation .

no,self medication is not advisable.
kindly visit your pediatrician for this.
at home ,feed your child on demand.
you can apply warm paste of Turmeric powder and water on your child chest back and sole.
The heat property of Turmeric will help to cure this.
