A. Your son may be experiencing selective mutism, a condition where a child speaks freely in comfortable settings like home but remains silent or unresponsive in places like school due to anxiety or shyness. Since he is active at home, his quietness at school is likely not due to a developmental delay but rather a comfort or confidence issue. It's important to provide him with gentle encouragement, avoid pressuring him to speak, and work closely with teachers to build a supportive, low-stress environment. Consulting a child psychologist or counselor can also help address any underlying anxiety and support his social confidence.
