Q.

My son is 5 yrs and 5 months old. He won't play alone with kids. I have to be there all the time. Even for a minute if I go from there he gets scared and starts crying. What is the best way to make him play independent with his friends.

A. My son is also exactly same age as of yours and hence I can understand your feeling well… kids have been away from this kind of social interaction because of covid and lockdown and online school. So kids look for protective environment. Probably you need to give some time to your child to start enjoying being social. Build trust that you won’t leave him alone and you need to be around your child till he/she is comfortable. If possible your child play with kids of his/her age so that their interest match and child can enjoy. You may invite kids for small get together at home so that your child start gelling up well with other kids. But you need to be patient and let your child accept this new environment.
