my son is 3.7 years he is having slight cough someone plz help me with some home remedy

Cough and cold can we because of some allergic reaction in the body most of the time it is viral in the origin need tho give symptomatic treatment first like steam inhalation and some home remejdies cough expectorant may be required along with anti allergic medications
