Q.

my infant 3 months old who used to poop regularly at 2 days interval but as soon as starting of 4 th month he haven't poop for upto 5 days or even a week is it any problem as he gets adequate feed I get confused about it

A. exclusive breastfeeding alone to my baby boy ,he passes flatus but interval of pooping gets prolonged

A. it is totally normal for small children less than 6 months of age not to pass stool for 10 days also. it is also normal if they are passing stool more than 6 or 7 times per day. if the consistency of the stool is Semi dsolid to solid there is no need to worry about the frequency as well as the colour (the colour can range from yellow brown green to black) of the stool. also strainingd while passing urine and stool is normal. Do burping for 15 to 20 minutes

A. Constipation in Babies less than 1 year is very common and more in formula fed babies and also when initially the semi solid food has been started after 6 months . you can give bonnhytisan drops and some enzyme preparations in proper dose suggested by doctor and cow's milk should be avoided before 1 year of age . Medicatiogns are required but it should be given only in medical supervision .
