Q.
my daughter is 4 and a half months old. she is having a cold and cough. doctor prescribed maxminic drops. we are giving that for the past two days. still the cough is not getting reduced. Any cough syrup to be given additionally.

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children2 years agoA. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after gya proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cough.
if fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the fever and theg dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .

You can give this medicine for a minimum of three maximum five days along with that indirect steam can also be given still if You feel by the time of three days it is not subsiding or it is much then you can consult your doctor and start nebulise your child as well
