A. At 2 years and 5 months, your daughter's ideal weight typically falls within a range, depending on factors like genetics, activity level, and overall health. The average weight for a child of this age is usually between 11 kg to 14.5 kg, but it can vary. If your daughter is active, growing in height, and meeting developmental milestones, slight variations in weight are generally not a concern.
Steps to Take:
1. Check with a Pediatrician:
If you are concerned about your daughter’s weight or eating habits, a pediatrician can assess her growth curve (comparing her height and weight over time) and determine if there is any reason for concern.
2. Encourage a Balanced Diet:
Even if she doesn’t eat fruits and dry fruits, try offering other nutrient-dense foods like vegetables, whole grains, dairy products, and proteins (eggs, fish, lentils).
You can sneak fruits into smoothies, yogurts, or baked goods if she resists eating them directly.
3. Introduce Dry Fruits in Fun Ways:
Ground dry fruits can be added to milk, cereals, or porridge for extra nutrition without her noticing.
Try offering fruit in different forms (smoothies, purees, or dried fruit snacks) or pair them with foods she likes (e.g., banana with peanut butter).
4. Model Good Eating Habits:
Children are more likely to try new foods when they see their family eating them. Make meal times a family affair where everyone enjoys a variety of healthy foods.
When to Worry:
If she’s losing weight, has low energy, seems uninterested in eating, or is not growing in height, it might be worth looking into her diet and health more closely with a doctor.
In most cases, picky eating at this age is common, and children go through phases. Keep offering a variety of foods, and stay patient.
