1. Slow down feedings: Give your baby smaller, more frequent feedings and take breaks during feeding to burp them to release trapped gas.
2. Switch to a sensitive formula: Some babies may have an intolerance to cow's milk protein or lactose, so you can try switching to a formula that is specifically made for sensitive tummies.
3. Bottle design: If you're using bottles, check the design of the bottle. Some bottles may cause your baby to swallow more air, leading to gas. Choose a bottle with an anti-colic vent or disposable liners.
4. Adjust feeding position: Make sure your baby is in an upright position during feedings and keep their head elevated. This can help reduce the amount of air they swallow.
5. Home remedies: You can also try massaging their tummy, bicycling their legs, placing a warm towel on their abdomen, or using infant gas drops (only after consulting with your pediatrician).
If the issue persists or your baby is in pain, it's best to consult with your pediatrician to rule out any underlying issues or allergies and get expert advice on how to alleviate your baby's gas.
