A. It's quite common for children to develop speech at their own pace. By the age of 2, many children can say a few words and begin to put together simple phrases, but there is a wide range of normal development. Since your child can say "Papa," "Mama," and "Baba," and understands instructions, these are positive signs. However, if you are concerned about your child's speech development, here are a few things to consider: 1. **Hearing Check**: Ensure your child’s hearing is normal, as hearing issues can impact speech development. 2. **Interaction and Engagement**: Engage in more conversation, read books, sing songs, and encourage your child to repeat words and phrases. 3. **Speech Milestones**: At 2 years old, many children can use around 50 words and start forming two-word sentences like "more juice" or "want cookie." 4. **Professional Guidance**: If you feel your child’s speech development is significantly delayed, consulting a pediatrician or a speech-language pathologist can provide you with tailored advice and potential interventions. Every child develops at their own rate, but keeping an eye on developmental milestones and seeking professional advice if you have concerns can help ensure your child gets the support they need.
