My 2.8 years old son not talking regular words. If he needed something then pointed the thing. He can told alphabets, numbers, colours and some fruits name. But in case of regular conversation he denied to told. is he needed a speech therapist urgently?

A. maam it is always better to take care of these speech issues at an earlier stage itself. not sure if baby needs speech therapist but ideally you must always consult your pediatrician itself once. she can see him personally and help you out. One thing we must remember is that some children speak a little late compared to many other children. However if you feel baby is talking very less then better to consult your pediatrician itself once who can personally see the baby and guide you. She can refer you yo a speech therapist if required. But what you must do at home is to talk to the baby and make sure the baby repeats after you. Repetition is the key in learning. You must make eye contact with the baby. Take the help of books and show him pictures and teach. This is a good way of learning.
