A. At around 9 months old, many babies can sit independently for short periods of time, typically for a few minutes at a stretch. However, the duration can vary greatly from one baby to another based on factors such as strength, balance, and coordination development. Some babies may be able to sit unsupported for longer periods, while others may still need some support to remain upright. It's important to remember that each baby develops at their own pace, and there's a wide range of what's considered normal. As babies continue to practice and strengthen their muscles, their ability to sit independently for longer periods will improve. Always supervise your baby closely while they're sitting to ensure their safety, especially during this learning phase. If you have concerns about your baby's development or progress, consult with your pediatrician for personalized advice.
