Q.

Hii… My niece is 2 years old and she doesn’t sleep at night since last few days. We make her sleep around 8:00 pm and then she gets up all of a sudden a d starts crying. We make her comfort and try to get her back to sleep but then she starts behaving cranky and doesn’t sleep the entire night then. Nor does she has any health issues nor she behaves the same during the day; happens usually around nap hours. ( she gets up from her sound sleep with sudden shock nd then starts crying)

A. Thank you for answering the question sir. She’s 2 years old and hasn’t started walking yet due to which she’s getting physiotherapy done everyday. Moreover, she has started consuming one new medicine as well as per doctor’s prescription. Earlier, she use to sleep normally. We haven’t changed any of her daily routine. To highlight- SHE GETS UP with a sudden fear reaction and then screams and cry strssfully. Not able to get to the point what’s happening.

A. for big children it is important to increase the physical activity of the child during the daytime and also see that the child is drinking plenty of water and is having a good diet just before sleep but at the same time the diet should be easily digestible and not very heavy diet which is causing more gas formation because sthat also can lead to digestion problem and that can disturb the sleep. also it is important to look for any environmental disturbance which is affecting the sleep like temperature variations as wsell as the mattress problem. rule out constipation which might be causing gastric disturbance and change in sleep pattern
