my son is 3 years old. last to last week he had fever for 4 days. No congestion, no running nose n no cough. I gave him syp. crocin n he was fine. but day before yesterday, he got fever again in the evening. I gave him the same syp. n it subsided. but he got fever again last noon. despite of giving him the same syrup it didn't subside,n he was coughing all the time. i repeated the dose 6hourly, but for no good. please advise.

Cough along with Cold most of the time is a  viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cough.
if fever is there paracetamol can bejji given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .
