HomeQuestions & AnswersHi,
My baby is 1 year and 1 month old. She has a very troubled sleeping pattern. She sleeps late around 2:30- 3:00 at night and wakes up in the afternoon around 2:00. she is also very disturbed in sleep, keeps on waking up very 1-1.5 hr, cries very badly each time and sleeps soon as I hold her.
Is there and medical problem in this sleeping pattern, should I consult a doctor. Plz advise.
Thanks in advance.

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children4 years agoA. Sleep Cycle in smaller babies is very different and they have a certain pattern initially which becomes regularize at around 6 to 8 months of age and if the baby is comfortable with no irritability because of infantile colic nasal blockage any regurgitation etc you should not worry just give a comfortable position to the baby and no medicine is required.
In children above one year of age you have to just make a proper discipline for the child so that gradually the child will develop a proper schedule and avoid too much of screen time and other activiaeties at least one hour before sleep also make the room environment and temperature favourable for the child to sleep.
toddlers may have night terrors and nightmares which needs to be managed accordingly.
