Q.

Hi I am a breastfeeding mom and my baby is 5 months old now. After my delivery I gained 12kgs. I tried to reduce my food intake then my weight gain stopped. But my weight is not reducing from this point. Please let me know what dietary changes I can do so that my breastfeeding will not be reduced and also what all exercises I can do to lose weight faster.

A. Dear mum, instead of reducing your food intake, you should eat mindfully and have small frequent meals. Have lots of fluids and water. Have seasonal fruits, vegetables and green leafy vegetables. Have lean proteins like eggs, beans, pulses, low fat milk and milk products. Have healthy fats from almonds, flaxseed. Exercise for 45 minutes every day. Exercises like brisk walk, yoga, swimming helps.
