Q.

Hi doctor, My toddler is 2.9 years old, and he has had constipation for 2 years. Is the stool reducing substance test recommended for constipation, or is that test only for babies with diarrhea?"

A. at this age the child should pass stool regularly. if the consistency is hard and the child is having pain while passing stool it is considered as constipation. give plenty of water and fibre diet to the child it is important to give fibre diet from cereals pulses vegetables and frudits avoid giving more than 400 ml milk everyday and avoid giving packet and processed foods as well as biscuits and refined food adding papaya , fennel seeds water , oats pear prunes pineapple banana kishmish to the regular diet will help in decreasing constipation.

A. Hello there ma’am please do not worry about it too much and please increase the intake of liquid and also give baby more rich fibre food and also you should give baby prune juice on daily basis as it works on constipation very efficiently…. Take care
