Hi Doctor, my son has viral fever since last 3days and today temp got reduced but the temperature is showing as 95.4 to 96 since morning as today is third day of continuing the medication of ibuprofen . Is that temp okay or not as it is not showing 97 to 98.6.plz suggest me asap.

Thanks Doctor for your prompt response. As we are the following the same which you have suggested.  But am repeating the issue like today is the 3rd day we are using medication of viral fever. since morning his temp is showing 95.4 to 96 only. It is okay or not. can I continue with medication or not.

Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever .
Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks .
Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. jcCan be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed .
Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever. 
Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial. 
Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .
