hi doctor my son 7 months he is cough from 1 months but it is not continuous one week it will be there we have consulted 2 pediatricians they told it is normal and due to climate change it will be there but I didn't face any difficulties for my first baby can I give cough syrup when he has cough or not sir

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children2 years agoA. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchgwodilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cough.
if fevedr is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .
