Hi doctor, my baby is one n half month old now and 9th March is the first vaccine date. she delivered in private hospital. In the hospital they r charging approx. 5k but in govt hospital it's free. due to financial concern, is there any difference if I go with govt hospital.

A. I am answering this question with reference to Indian Govt hospitals. Yes, the govt, hospitals are ‘safe’ to vaccinate your child, and you will save some money. But be informed that govt hospitals do not necessarily give the same set of vaccines you would have received in a private setup. For example: Private practitioners have recommended and given the Pneumococcal PCV-13 vaccine since the last 10 years, but it is still not given in govt hospitals. Another example is Rubella vaccine. Private practitioners have been giving rubella vaccine for more 30 years now. But its inclusion in the govt’s vaccination is comparatively recent. Lot of innocent lives have been spoilt by congenital rubella syndrome during these years.

Q. #asktheexpert Hello Doctor, My baby is going to complete the 6 weeks on March 9th 2021, So on 9th March she is going to take 2nd Vaccine dose ,and I have little doubt on the Vaccination done though the government and private hospital, which one is better ? i can understand the government is provided the free of the cost and private hospital charges for the vaccine and it's almost 5k for the - 6 weeks , please share your thoughts regarding the vaccine items or any difference between the quality, or any the other important concerns a part of the charges in the private hospital.
