HomeQuestions & AnswersHi, can i continue feeding my baby with soft breasts. How do i know if he's really taking milk or comfort nursing. He sometimes takes too long with softer breasts. Does this indicate milk flow is very slow with softer breasts. Takes atleast 3,4 hours for my breasts to refill full. But baby feeds every hour / cluster feeding. My baby getting enough milk or should i suppliment with formula ??

A. Hi there! It's great that you're asking these questions and trying to make sure your baby is getting enough milk. It's normal for babies to cluster feed, especially in the early weeks and months, so don't worry too much about that. As for the soft breasts, it's possible that your milk flow is slower with them, but it's also possible that your baby is just comfort nursing. One way to tell if your baby is getting enough milk is by keeping track of wet and dirty diapers each day. Your pediatrician can help you figure out how many you should expect for your baby's age. If your baby seems satisfied after feedings and is producing enough diapers, then he's probably getting enough milk. However, if you're still concerned, you could consider talking to a lactation consultant or your pediatrician about supplementing with formula. Best of luck to you and your baby!

A. Also from two weeks am giving only breastmilk because of doctors advice, before that used to give combination feeding (Aptamil gold) due to low milk supply, baby cries in the middle of the feeding when my breast feel soft so i used to give formula. He was very dull not atall active and sleeps a lot with formula milk. But from 2weeks he's not pooping only when by putting thermometer in to rectum, gas was releasing and poop starts to come only by doing this ( docter advised this method ). My concern is that whether my milk is sufficient or not because its the first time baby is not pooping for 3,4 days only when doing that thermometer method it works. Baby also not drinking enough milk dont feel hungry when he puts breast in mouth he fell asleep all time. Im very much concerned about him. Every one saying tummy feels very soft and foldings and also milk is not sufficient to baby so advising me to give formula. But baby is not drinking enough breast milk if he drinks mine wont sufficient to him so im not ok to give formula. Is it because due to summer he's not hungry or what ??

A. Hello dear parent! Include methi, roasted makhana, jeera, saunf in your daily diet. Consult a lactation specialist. Continue feeding your baby well on demand for better health, nutrition and hydration. Keep Babyhug tummy roll on handy
