hello doctor, my 1year baby boy suffering from cold and cough with sputum.please suggest any medicine. Thanks, Durga

A. Cough is a protective reflex of the body to expel out the mucus or any irritant factor from the respiratory tract which is most of the time assosiated with cold due to any viral or bacterial infection . A proper examination is required to find the cause . As gua home remedy you can start with steam inhalation . Cough can be treated with cough suppressant or antitussives as per the cause. For cold antihistamines are useful anfd nasal saline drops are also benifecial .

A. good morning it is never advisable to use any medicine without showing to the doctor as a home remedy I would recommend that you should try to give your child Tulsi with honey with warm water
