dr. meri beti 13months ki hai may usko cow milk deti hu din may do bar par last two week se usko constipation ho rahi hai or aj usne tin din ka gap karke potty ki hai bhot jada tight potty or usko pain bhi ho raha tha can you please suggest a advice

A. Cow's milk should be given to the baby only after completion of 1 year of age because the protein and fat in cow's milk is hard to digest before that and many a times there could be cow's milk protein allergy in babies and lactose intolerance which could be severe sometimes. Also early introduction of cokuws milk can lead to iron deficiency anemia as cow's milk lacks iron and vit c . Also there could be micro bleeding in intestine because of the heavy protein of cow's milk .

A. The stool should be soft, like mashed potatoes. Have your child drink diluted 100% fruit juice. A serving of prune juice or prunes once a day may help. Teach your child to come in from play every time they have the urge to poop.
