Do not totally eliminate carbs from your kid's diet. Select low or medium glycemic carbs like broccoli, carrots, apple, berries, beans, nut, peanut butter, yoghurt with honey and fruits, milk, cheese, pineapple, sweet potatoes, dried fruit, pasta, high fibre cereal and brown rice. Avoid high glycemic carbs like French fries, corn, potatoes, white rice, chips, juice, jam, sweet and frozen yoghurt, bread, pancakes, waffles, pizza, popcorn, instant oats, and refined forms such as maida. Add more vegetables and fruits in many colours to your kid's diet. Serve whole fruits rather than fruit juices. Make your kid drink lots of water. Kids should sleep for around 9-11 hours in a day. Minimise sugar and salt. Serve more proteins - eggs, pulses like red gram, black gram and legumes like channa, rajma, horse gram etc. Serve fish and chicken.
