Yes you can give it in a puree form. Rather than this in starting few days give everything in a fluids form. Like Dal Ka Paani, rice water, vegetable soup, fruit puree. And with the time you can increase the food item in babies regular diet plan. Baby should take at least four meals in a day so maintain a diet plan according to that
