Assalamualaikum Dr, why does a 5 months old baby has very soft head? and is it normal? or should i need to consult a doctor?

A. they are fontanelle and usually they will close by maximum 18 months of age and only sometimes by 2 years of age. they are normally present in all infants and is important for the development growth of the brain it is important to see that the child is not suffering from calcium and vitamin d deficiency as well as the child is not having any other complaints because their deficiency is the comxmon cause of delayed closure of fontanelle.

A. If You talking about the soft spot on the forehead on the head and you can heal by the age of 16 to 18 months also and till the time it would be normal if it doesn’t mean by then then you have to consult your doctor but uptill 18 months it would be normal
