POOJA KOTHARIExpecting Mom due in 1 month3 months agoA. To treat a baby with cough, first check if it's mild or severe. For a mild cough, keep your baby well-hydrated with frequent breastfeeding or warm water (if over 6 months). Use a cool-mist humidifier in the room to ease throat irritation and loosen mucus. Elevate the baby’s head slightly while sleeping to help breathing. You can also try gentle chest rubs (like baby-safe ones with eucalyptus) or warm mustard oil massage on the chest and back.
Avoid giving any cough syrups or home remedies without a doctor’s advice, especially for babies under 1 year. If the cough lasts more than 3–4 days, or is accompanied by fever, wheezing, breathing difficulty, or reduced feeding, see a pediatrician right away.
