A. It's not uncommon for infants to be born with body hair, known as lanugo, which typically starts to shed before or shortly after birth. However, if your 5-month-old baby still has an excess amount of body hair, it's advisable to consult with your pediatrician. While some babies may retain a bit of lanugo for a longer period, persistent or excessive body hair can sometimes be associated with certain medical conditions. Your pediatrician can assess your baby's overall health and development, as well as investigate any potential underlying causes for the excess body hair. It's essential to communicate any concerns you have about your baby's appearance or development to your pediatrician for a thorough evaluation and appropriate guidance.
