#AskTheExpert my daughter is 3years old...she is getting cough during nights...can I give ascoril flu syrup for cough?

A. Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful . cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cough. if fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the fever ancd the dovse can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .

A. Hello dear parent, for medicines I would suggest you to ask your doctor only. But you can give steam for few minutes and several times in a day. Also apply Vicks baby rub on her chest. You can give ginger juice with honey. One or spoons are enough.
