Q.

#asktheexpert My baby still wakes up in night and ask for milk or water. What should I do to let him sleep for straight 8-9 hours. Is this ok to ask for milk in night?

A. It is normal for a 1-year, 11-month-old baby to wake up at night and ask for milk or water, as night feedings can become a habit. To encourage longer sleep, ensure your baby eats a filling dinner with proteins and healthy fats. Gradually reduce night milk intake by offering water instead or comforting them back to sleep without feeding. If they are truly hungry, a light snack before bedtime like a banana or warm milk can help. With time, they will adjust to sleeping through the night. Avoid forcefully stopping night feeds if your baby is not ready.
