#AskTheExpert My baby is suffering from loose motions and have been using Z and D drops from 4 days. I got her stool tested. Please advice whether any antibiotics or probiotics are required based on the attached report.

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Loose motion most of the time is because of some infection which could be viral or bacterial and in such case it is associated with symptoms like fever along with vomiting and loss of appetite .
supportive treatment is very necessary where proper hydration should be maintained by giving ORS along with that probiotic can be given like enterogermina or econorm in a proper dose .
Antdibiotics has their role only if it is bacterial infection . d for this doctor guidance is necessary .

Give your baby breastmilk more often.Also, give extra fluid if breast milk isn't keeping up with the fluid losses. You can use formula or ORS (Pedialyte).
