A. It is quite normal for a one-month-old baby to exhibit sudden jerky movements or "limping" (also referred to as startle reflex or Moro reflex) while sleeping or even when they are awake. This reflex is a natural response that newborns have, and it usually occurs when they feel like they're falling or suddenly startled. It is a sign of the baby’s developing nervous system. These movements typically reduce by the time the baby reaches 3-4 months of age. However, if the movements seem excessive, your baby appears distressed, or if you notice any other concerning signs, it’s always a good idea to discuss it with your pediatrician for reassurance.
