It is not harmful for sure but it doesn't give immunity which is important. Breastmilk will give immunity to baby and it is easily digestible also. Formula can cause gas to baby.
It is recommended to give exclusive breastfeeding till 6 month exclusively and don't forget to burp after every feed.
