A. At around 12 months of age, your baby may have a few teeth coming in, but the exact timing can vary. Typically, the first set of baby teeth (also called primary teeth) begins to emerge between 6 to 10 months. Here's a general timeline for when you can expect the different teeth to come in: Typical Timeline for Baby Teeth: 1. Lower central incisors (bottom front teeth) – 6-10 months 2. Upper central incisors (top front teeth) – 8-12 months 3. Upper lateral incisors (next to the top front teeth) – 9-13 months 4. Lower lateral incisors (next to the bottom front teeth) – 10-16 months 5. First molars (back teeth) – 13-19 months (upper first molars can come a bit later) 6. Canine teeth (cuspids) – 16-23 months (these are the pointy teeth) 7. Second molars (back molars) – 23-33 months By 18-24 months, your child should typically have 8-12 teeth, but this timeline can vary. If your baby is nearing 1 year old and has not yet gotten teeth, this can be completely normal—teeth can come in at different rates. If you’re concerned about the timing, it’s always best to consult with your pediatrician or pediatric dentist.
