A. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever .
Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks .
Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dovoise of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed .
Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever.
Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial.
Urine output mognitoring is necessary to avoid dehydration .

A. When a toddler is suffering from a fever, it's essential to offer foods that are easy to digest, soothing, and provide hydration. Here are some gentle Indian foods that can be suitable for toddlers with fever:
1. **Khichdi:** A simple and nourishing dish made with rice and moong dal (split yellow lentils), cooked until soft and easily digestible. You can add mild spices like cumin and turmeric for flavor and digestion support.
2. **Dalia (Broken Wheat) Porridge:** Cooked broken wheat or dalia with milk or water until soft and porridge-like consistency. You can sweeten it with a little jaggery or honey for added taste.
3. **Vegetable Clear Soup:** A clear broth-based soup made with vegetables like carrots, peas, and potatoes. The broth provides hydration, while the vegetables offer essential nutrients.
4. **Rice Water (Kanji):** Plain rice cooked in excess water until it becomes a thin, soupy consistency. Rice water is easy to digest and helps keep the toddler hydrated.
5. **Yogurt:** Plain yogurt is gentle on the stomach and provides probiotics that support gut health. You can serve it plain or mix it with a little fruit puree for added flavor.
6. **Banana:** Bananas are easy to digest and rich in potassium, which can help replenish electrolytes lost due to fever-related sweating.
7. **Coconut Water:** Refreshing and hydrating, coconut water is rich in electrolytes and helps prevent dehydration.
8. **Ginger Tea:** A mild ginger tea made by boiling crushed ginger in water and sweetening it with a little honey. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties and may help alleviate symptoms of fever.
9. **Boiled Vegetables:** Soft-cooked and mashed vegetables like carrots, pumpkin, or bottle gourd can provide essential nutrients without putting strain on the digestive system.
10. **Apple Sauce:** Cooked and pureed apples can be soothing and easy to swallow for a toddler with a fever. You can add a pinch of cinnamon for added flavor.
It's essential to encourage your toddler to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated during a fever. Offer water, coconut water, diluted fruit juices, or clear soups frequently throughout the day. Additionally, consult with a pediatrician if your toddler's fever persists or if they show signs of dehydration or other concerning symptoms.
