#asktheexpert dr my son is 16 months old and has a bulky head on right side and flat head on left side.our pediatrician has done physical examination and said that brain growth is till 5 years of age and till that his head will become symmetric.is it possible and I am worried alot.please help

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. due to pressure on one side of the head during sleeping there is flatness / abnormal shape on that side of the head.
no treatment is required for flat head / bumpy head and you will see that by one year to two years of age the flat head will go away as soon as the child bzegins to sit and later walk.
pillows will not help much in this case so do not worry.
the bones in the skull are elastic so to give space to the growing brain itx takes different shape and when the growth of the brain occurs properly then gradually they will take a normal shape.
