Q.

#AskTheExpert Dear Doctor, How to know if my baby is fully fed because at nights he keeps on feeding like for three hours but in the mornings he immediately falls asleep as soon as I start feeding. At nights my supply seems to be not enough and I formula feed him. Please let me know how I should feed.

A. hi dear From a developmental perspective, babies are able to sleep through the night — defined as a six- to eight-hour stretch — without eating when they're between 4 and 6 months old. In this age range, most babies reach the 12- to 13-pound mark, the weight where they no longer metabolically need nighttime feedings.
