Hi doctor
my son has been coughing since past 15 days. He doesn't cough a lot during the day but at night he coughs intermittently. we have been nebulizing him thrice a day with ventolin. Also the doctor has given him some syrup cough supressent. the thing is that the cough is not going away. what could be the reason. Are the prescribed medication correct.

yes
it appears to be allergic cough/cold.
they can be associated with temperature variations around the body (hot to cold or cold to hot environmental changes) which the body cannot sustain leading to cough usually at evening /nigsht and morning.
requires examination and start anti allergic medicines.
meet dr and prevent such temperature variations. 
there is a possibility of starting anti allergic medicines for at least one montzh and the doctor will decide if the child needs inhaler therapy or nebulization.
